As of June 1, 2025, we are no longer attempting to take insurance. We say ‘attempting to take’ insurance because we nearly didn’t take insurance at all. That is, we didn’t get paid by insurance companies, really any of them. Despite our best efforts over the last 16 months, we have received roughly 1% of what we have billed to various insurance companies. It should be noted that that 1% wasn’t garnered sooner than 6 months after the dates of service. Who goes to work to get 1% of their salary 6 months later? Who can?
We spent months in the credentialing process, used multiple billers (one of whom even seemed to know what they were doing), but we can no longer attempt to take insurance because the practice will cease to exist if we do. We tried to do this for so long because we are committed to you. We tried to do this because we were (and still are) interested in being less of a burden for those seeking healthcare and to allow those who otherwise could not afford healthcare to receive it. That is who we are. We want to serve and we don’t want finances to get in the way.
We understand that it doesn’t seem like it could be this bad, but it is. The system is broken. If we are going to provide healthcare and you are going to receive healthcare, we are all going to have to do it without recourse to insurance. In an attempt to be of service, we do now offer a sliding scale. We will also still offer out-of-network superbills to help get people reimbursed on an out-of-network basis. We want to be part of the solution, not part of the problem. We appreciate your understanding and will work with you to get into and through the future together.
